Studio H promo videos
This past year, we’ve been lucky enough to work with a fantastic team of documentary film makers, who have been crafting the Studio H story into what will be a full-length film to be released next year. Director Patrick Creadon (of Wordplay and IOUSA), and producers Christine O’Malley and Neal Baer (of Law and Order: SVU!), along with associate director Daniel Clark, have been wonderful partners invested in the success of Studio H as a story, enterprise, educational experience, and adventure. They produced 2 short

Today we finished the back side of the building’s upper siding (the short ends of the building were done yesterday). The siding on the upper half of the building has many purposes, and in fact recently a few people have asked us about the curious “second story” of our building. The upper, “sheathed” portion functions as a billboard along the front of the structure, a mass on top to create some visual presence and weight on the site, and also given its taller height, helps

Now that our roof is done, we are ready to go on siding. The top section of our building is framed in, with slatted siding on the top 9 feet or so. This framed-in “slotted box” that defines the top of the structure has multiple purposes: to give the building some visual heft up top and presence on the site, but functionally to a) serve as a billboard facing the street, which will read “Windsor Super” in our characteristic lime green, and b) help pull

Roofers finishing the EPDM rubber sheeting After framing the roof with joists and plywood, along with a level perimeter upon which the roof rubber sheeting would fold over, we called in some experts to bang out the job in one day. While Matt has worked with EPDM before (a sheet rubber product rolled out atop a flat roof and sealed with a thick paste), because of our time constraints, we hired a local roofer and his crew to do the roof in one day. Because

With just one week until Year 2 of Studio H starts, we’re racing the clock to complete the Windsor Super Market structure. The open farmers market pavilion is about 75% complete – the roof will be finished this week, and siding will start going up tomorrow. Left to do: front access ramp, sun shades, and interior stall build-outs (for vendor set-ups). We took this video this morning to walk through the space and explain the circulation and structural qualities.

This week, we began roofing. At 20+ feet in the air, it’s a treacherous game, and students are not allowed up on the roof, but there is much prep work and cutting to be done at ground level as well. First, the permanent bracing was installed (photo below) to laterally stabilize the structure. Permanent bracing Our roof consists of roof joists and rim joists (at the sides), on top of which will sit a sheet of treated plywood, and then an EPDM rubberized roof. The
